So we're back in Temple now. We had a great trip and had some quality time with Kirsten's folks. Madalyn had been teething the entire time and giving this combination wail/moan every 3 minutes while we were there, but mercifully she slept the entire plane trip back to Dallas!!! Wow.
The drive back to Temple was unreal though. Once we got outside of Dallas traffic slowed to a standstill. What should have taken 2 hours ended up taking 4. Part of this was because there was a wreck, but after the wreck there was just a lot of congestion. On top of this, Madalyn had a blowout while in the car. Kirsten was looking frantically for her diapers but couldn't find them. She assumed we must have left them with my parents, so she made a makeshift diaper from a burp cloth. Later we found the diapers...in the diaper bag...
Also, somehow we forgot to pack an extra water bottle to make Madalyn's formula. This wouldn't have been a problem had the trip taken 2 hours like it was supposed to, but since it took much longer than that Madalyn got hungry. Of course we couldn't just get off at the first exit and find a gas station and buy some water because we were in standstill traffic. So Kirsten climbed into the back seat and spoonfed Madalyn some baby food until we could get to a gas station. Way to go Momma!
In other news, I just got an email today from the Texas Tech graduate school that my dissertation is now online. If you're interested, you can access it here.
That's it for now!
