Here's something to think about: no where in the New Testament does God say women should focus on their physical appearance or beauty. And in the Old Testament, the beauty of godly women is always a simple 'in' that God uses to accomplish his will in a society where beauty is valued - it's never the praiseworthy trait that makes them admirable (Esther's beauty led her to the crown where she had the opportunity to save her people; Sarah's beauty is what made her desirable to kings and therefore presented the opportunity to show his power).In fact, the directive regarding beauty that is given to the New Testament Christians is this: 'your beauty should not come from outward adornment... it should be that of your inner self... the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit' 1 Peter 3:3-5.
I think that's worth thinking about in a culture that pressures us and our daughters to look a certain way. Don't you?

Didn't Esther go through a years worth of beauty treatments before she was sent to the King?
One year. Just finished the Esther Beth Moore Bible Study. One of the lessons was titled 'It's tough being a woman in a world where beauty is a treatment' :-)
Sorry for the s - I guess thats just how I talks! LOL! I will have to get that book - Esther is my favorite Bible story. Thanks!
