4th of July in Belton!

This was such a fun 4th of July!! Apparently the Belton 4th of July parade is one of the best places to celebrate in Texas - even made the news! So we loaded up the sunscreen and the stroller on Saturday morning and parked somewhere downtown. Madalyn sat on Jason's shoulders and watched the parade! She danced (bopped on Jason's shoulders) when the Belton High marching band passed, and she made lots of horse noises for all of the horses going by. At one point she decided she wanted to see Jason's face...... that made for some good photo ops :-)

Eventually we made our way to the Festival and Nolan Creek. It was so neat! Jason got a fancy smoothie, and Madalyn enjoyed looking and petting (not gentley, mind you) the bunnies! When I saw that pony rides were available I just thought it would be a perfect addition to Madalyn's horse-focused weekend (the rodeo, the parade, etc). She liked it! Maybe not as much as I did, but she definitely made her horse sounds and pointed to the other ponies while doing so. It was so neat!We met up with some other families for a picnic by the creek. They had found the perfect place with shade and far away from the crowds. Then we hurried home because Jason's parents had arrived! We had a perfect afternoon in the air conditioned house with them :-) At dinnertime we ventured outside again to grill some hamburgers and let Madalyn run through the sprinkler. We had watermelon! Can you think of any more perfect way to spend a summer evening??
No fireworks for us - Madalyn went to bed and we were done getting out. We ended up watching a 'Liquid' video. Ever heard of it??
