I am rapidly becoming a fan of our close proximity to Austin - it means we get to see my dad more often!! Although the airport was about 30 minutes closer when we lived in Lubbock, there were fewer overnights there. I'm starting to think that we'll get to see my dad a lot more than we realized. This is good news!
Madalyn had a lovely visit with 'Papa'. She was pretty sleepy when we arrived at the airport, so she snuggled right into his lap and was content to read stories with him for quite a while. She came to life eventually though, and then delighted in playing 'fetch' with a stress ball. She especially liked it when dad would switch hiding places on her when her back was turned. She fell for it every time!
I think my favorite moment was when we headed toward the hotel restaurant to grab some lunch, and Madalyn reached up readily for 'Papa's' hand. I love how comfortable and prepared she was to have him lead her down the long hallway. She knows good people even if she doesn't see them every day. That is such a blessing when you have so many loved family and friends who are far away!
