Stitches!

Lunchtime at the Northrups on a Tuesday afternoon, and check out Jason's thumb :-) Last night he was being a husband who rocks, and washing dishes. Then he was a husband who drops and broke my favorite glass bowl ;-) (okay, not my favorite, and I don't know that he dropped it exactly - I just know he let out a swear word and disrupted my online library search). Turns out he broke the large, thick, glass bowl with his thumb... the portion of his thumb with the big vein (okay, I don't know if there's one big vein, or if it's just close to the surface, or what). Anyway, it bled a lot... a lot, a lot, a lot. So, the most wonderful woman in all of Temple, Texas and one of my bestest friends, Leslie Brown, came over so that we didn't have to wake up Madalyn and take her with us to the ER, and we went to the ER. Our wonderful bestest friend Leslie also helped us figure out where the ER was and which on to go to (all kinds of thing in life are complicated when you're new somewhere).
So, about 2 and a half hours and 3 stitches later we came home and crashed. Jason and I have been to the ER 4 times since we got married, and this was the most pleasant trip we've had. He was in the least amount of pain of any time, for starters. Other than that, we just had a pleasant little visit. We joked around, read some facebook stuff on his phone, and we even learned something. The doctor's response to Jason's question regarding what he sees most often in the ER: "stupid".
He followed it up with "you can't fix stupid." :-)

(Dallas is unconcerned about Jason's thumb, and seems to have enjoyed his evening with Leslie).

you do have unusual dates. That's one way to get a free sitter.
