Snoozed

I am amazed by my dad's patience. Before Madalyn's naptime, he described the way he used to lay with (baby) me between himself and the couch while I bounced around until I fell asleep. I said he was welcome to try it with Madalyn but if it didn't work out it was okay - she's can be a little bit difficult to wind down for a nap now that she's getting older.
So Dad got arranged, we gave Madalyn her paci and her monkey and set her down on the couch beside him and I left the room. I listened to her bounce around and babble and well-yell. I thought that surely any moment Dad would be ready for me to take her to her own room and we'd call it a good try. But sure enough. Eventually, there was silence, and as I peaked around the corner I saw two crashed out people I love, warm, snug and cozy on the couch.
I've barely got the whole parent thing figured out. But I have to say, I don't quite understand and can't quite imagine what it is to have a grandchild - but something pretty special happens when your parents meet your baby. It is surely a precious, precious love.
