About two months ago Madalyn started to really listen to stories and like books (even though we'd been reading to her regardless for months before that). And a favorite surely emerged - her dog book. She is always reaching for this one! It is probably her heaviest book. It's a cute little rhyming story describing all different kinds of dogs, and you can feel the dogs on different pages and there are some pull-the-tab pages. But I think that what she really loves is all those photos of dogs!! The best part is at the end, where you lift the last flap to reveal 'cat!'. She always gets the sweetest smile on her face when we read that page.

If you've known me a long time, you also know I have a favorite book... a dog book. I'm wondering when the perfect time to share it with her will be. It doesn't rhyme - but it sure has great pictures!! We'll see :-)
When we point to the books, Madalyn says 'ook'. And sometimes when we point to the dogs and say 'dog' she's say 'cog'. The cog is sometimes generalized to other things, so you know; but 'ook' is definitely only said when we point to books. So we've got 'hi', 'das' (Dallas), and 'ook' that we can say with some confidence comprise Madalyn's vocabulary thus far.
Today around 5pm we're headed to Austin to pick up Craig! We're excited for his visit!!
