Power-outage day in brief

8am-ish: wake up to a phone call from the neighbor asking if our power was out as well. Jason reads (via phone internet) that Texas will be doing periodic 15 minute blackouts in order to reduce enery consumption. Neighbor reports it's been more than 15 minutes.
9am-ish: decide not to hold out to make pancakes and eat some cereal. Inside temp about 66.
10am-ish: set up Madalyn's toys in front of the fireplace. Talk to Leslie about coming to our house since she doesn't have a fireplace.
11am-ish: Jason goes exploring to see if anyplace is open and buy more firewood.
12ish: Jason has discovered that most of Temple is experiencing the normal periodic black outs instead of camping like we are. He gets hot food (and coffee!) for us at McDonalds. Inside temp about 63. Learn that Leslie's power is back on! Anticipate our own returning.
1pm-ish: After eating food that was not so hot when it got to us, we hang out in front of the fireplace and read books and play with Madalyn's kindermusik stuff.
2pm-ish: same. Inside temp: 61. Start planning how to stay warm tonight. I start to get a little nervous and annoyed.
3:30-ish: Neighbor comes over with her kiddos to play.
4pm-ish: Power back on!!! Hooray!!

Crazy! Thank God it came back on! I heard about other people who didn't get the "rolling" blackout, but had their power off all day. I was lucky - mine never went off.
